Welfare of the needy will be taken care of, says rep

DATUK Keramat assemblyman Jagdeep Singh Deo has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to continue assisting the needy throughout the movement control order (MCO).

He said this after contributing household provisions to the Sri Ramakrishna Ashram residents today together with Jelutong MP R.S.N. Rayer.

“Whilst giving priority to the public health and security, the state government will also make sure that the welfare of those who are in need of assistance is taken care of.

“We (state government) will go all out to help the people who have been affected by this MCO. I also would like to welcome all parties who intend to assist them, ’’ Jagdeep said.

Jagdeep said as the Datuk Keramat assemblyman, he would be contributing to some 10 homes (orphanages and old folks home) that cater to some 500 residents in his constituency.

“Today, we have prepared 50 sets of grocery items to be given to the home which has a total of 40 residents.

“We are starting off with Ramakrishna today, and we will be also assisting the rest of the homes that we have identified in this constituency,’’ he added.

The state government had earlier announced a RM75 million Covid-19 aid package to ease the burden of the vulnerable and low-income groups. The package also includes special allocation for all state constituencies.

Later, Jagdeep, Rayer and their team distributed face mask to the residents in the neighbourhood of Kampung Makam.
