NEWS on the approval of Penang projects like the Light Rail Transport (LRT) and the Pan Island Link 1 (PIL 1) should come from the proper authorities, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

“They should not be based on sources without naming names,” Chow told the media at Olive Tree Hotel today, in reference to a report in The Star recently that said the construction of the LRT and PIL 1 under the Penang Transport Master Plan had been approved.

“We (state government) are in the midst of getting approval and we have not received any good news from the Federal Government yet.

“I am sure when we hear it from the proper authorities, we will break the news.”

To another question, Chow said the state government has already appointed a consultant to work on the RM12 million expansion plan for the Penang International Airport.

“Other than that, it is not confirmed whether it is a 16 million passenger plan or not,” he added.
