THE Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) is organising an online concert called ‘Youth with Rhythm: Raya Edition’ as a platform for the youth to showcase their artistic talent.

State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee said the programme would also feature ‘Omara’, a renowned local boria group who would be putting up an act as well as musical performances in conjunction with the upcoming Hari Raya festivity.

“The state is committed to ensuring that the youth are given the opportunity to realise their desires and passions, especially in the field of arts and culture.

“This is in tandem with the state government’s Penang2030 vision of ‘A Family-Focused Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation’.

“As it (Penang2030 vision) also focuses on various aspects of physical and social development in which young musicians and singers are among its core elements.

“Besides that, it is important for us to continue our cultural heritage like boria as a legacy as well as expose it to the younger generation because this is the identity and pride of Penang,” Soon said during a press conference in Komtar today.
