Parking woes for Halaman Damai residents resolved

RESIDENTS of the low-cost units at Halaman Damai in Kampung Rawa, George Town, can have something to cheer about after their parking woes have been resolved.

Jelutong MP R.S.N Rayer had spent RM 25,000 from his parliamentary allocation to instal the automatic bars at the entrance and exit points of the flat.

“The state wants to improve the quality of life for the residents here. We know that some of them are unable to park their cars because of the intrusion of some outsiders.

“After considering the grouses from the residents, we have decided to instal the automatic bars to enable only those with scan cards to enter the premises.

“This shows that we are looking into the well-being of the residents,” he told reporters before launching the automatic bars on Monday evening.

Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim, who was present, said she had also upgraded the basic amenities at the flat all this while.

“We want to make sure the residents can stay in a better and safe environment,” she said.

The flat committee chairman Muhaimin Abdul Manaf thanked the state government for its effort.

“On behalf of the residents, we appreciate the state’s kindness in looking at our plight.

“The residents here can now park their cars without any worry,” he said.
