60 days to go for WCIT2022 to happen in Penang !

THE countdown for the 26th edition of World Congress & Innovation Technology 2022 (WCIT 2022) continues with 60 more days left for the prestigious event to take place in Penang.

 

WCIT, which is also referred as the Olympics of the world’s information technology industry, is set to be held in Penang from Sept 13 to 15 at Setia SPICE Convention Centre.

 

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said TechFest, which is part of the WCIT, is also ready to be rolled out.

 

“As of today, we have in total 12 partners ranging from state agencies, private companies and associations that will be spearheading the various initiatives of TechFest which will run from Sept 14 to 17.

 

“We have also concluded the 7th steering committee meeting for WCIT2022 and I am glad to announce that it is now down to execution and production stage,” Chow said at a press conference at Komtar.

 

Also present were state Transport and Infrastructure Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari, TechFest chairman Catherine Lian, Digital Penang chief executive officer Tony Yeoh and representatives of the Techfest partners.

Chow said most of the events would revolve around WCIT2022 and would be held at Setia SPICE Convention Centre while the rest of the events would be held within Penang.

 

“These events include showcasing 5G, BuildTech, FoodTech, AI, NFT, Fintech, Smart Cities, Start-Ups, SpaceTech, coding, games and many others.

 

“Next week, on July 20, there will be a 55-day countdown event in Kuala Lumpur. This will help drum up the awareness and excitement as a buildup to WCIT2022,” he said.

 

Chow also added that TechFest is an experiential technology festival where members of the public would be exposed to the innovation, progress and the future of technology that influence lifestyle and business.

 

Meanwhile, National Tech Association of Malaysia (Pikom) chairman Dr Sean Seah said the congress aims to showcase experiential technology via TechFest to all the tech-users in Malaysia as well as those in Southeast Asia.
