FIFTY-THREE non-governmental organisations, a private company and an individual has submitted 62 applications to fill the quota for the state’s city councillor posts next year.
State Housing, Local Government, Country and Town Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said the deadline for the submission of nominations was Dec 15.
“We are happy to receive an overwhelming response.
“We will vet through the applications by next week,” he said at a press conference in City Hall, Esplanade today.
The 2020 term for the councillors in both city councils ends on Dec 31 this year.
