IT was an evening of laughter, celebration, and heartfelt appreciation as more than 100 media practitioners were honoured during the ‘Media Appreciation Night with CM Chow’ at the Anovia Banquet Art Centre in Gurney Paragon Mall.
Embracing the Glitz and Glam theme, guests arrived in dazzling, red-carpet-worthy attire, radiating sparkle, elegance, and sophistication.
Many came dressed in outfits inspired by Hollywood glamour, award-show fashion, and lavish soirée styles, adding to the night’s vibrant atmosphere.
Attendees were treated to a sumptuous spread of food and entertained with a lively programme featuring live band performances, karaoke sessions, and interactive stage games.
The excitement heightened when several lucky media members walked away with attractive prizes, including hotel stay vouchers and electrical appliances.
Buletin Mutiara journalist Sunarti Yusoff and the Chief Minister’s special officer Gurmandev Singh were adjudged the Best Dressed Female and Male attendees, respectively.
In his speech, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the event was a meaningful gesture to recognise the dedication and hard work of the media fraternity in Penang.

“I’m sure we have gone through a lot this year, and most of you have given your best in reporting the news so the public remains informed about what is happening in Penang and Malaysia.

“Thus, I would like to thank all media practitioners for attending tonight’s appreciation programme.

“We all know that the media serves as a vital bridge that connects our endeavours with the world.
“Your power to inform, educate, and inspire is unparalleled, and we deeply appreciate your immense impact.
“Thank you for your continuous support,” he said.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo, Penang Social Development, Welfare and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Lim Siew Khim, Penang Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye, Chief Minister senior confidential secretary Mohd Balkish Othman and state Communications Division director and Chief Minister’s press secretary Yap Lee Ying.
