A walk to commemorate Malaysia Day

TO celebrate the upcoming Malaysia Day, the ‘Batu Lancang Malaysia Day Walk’ is set to take place on Sept 16 in the Batu Lancang neighbourhood.

 

Its assemblyman Ong Ah Teong said some 2,000 participants are expected to take part in the walk which would be held for the first time in the constituency.

 

“The start point for the walk is at the Batu Lancang Food Complex open car park space. It will commence at 7 am.

 

“The registration fee for the walk is only RM30 and the participants are entitled to a T-shirt, finisher medal, e-certificate, a recycling bag as well as a booklet on the olden days of the Batu Lancang neighbourhood.

 

“On the day, we will also provide them with buns and water,” Ong said at a press conference today.

The event is organised by the Batu Lancang service centre with the support of the Jelutong parliamentary service centre, Batu Lancang Village Community Management Council, Women and Family Development Committee (JPWK) and Batu Lancang Youth Committee (JBPP).

 

Apart from that, Ong also said there would be lucky draw prizes with two motorcycles (Honda Wave Alpha and Modenas Kris 110) and two flat-screen TVs as among the top prizes.

 

“We will be also giving out another 50 lucky draw prizes,” he added.

 

The closing date for registration is Aug 31.
