PENANGITES have been told to adapt to the ‘new norm’ as the state gradually opens up its economy.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the people would need to conform to the safety measures – avoid crowded places, practise social distancing and take care of their personal hygiene.

“These practices are important to maintain the state’s green status. We have to work together to combat the Covid-19 pandemic,” he told Buletin Mutiara after giving out groceries to the underprivileged in Pepper Estate today.

Bukit Bendera MP Wong Hon Wai, who was present during the distribution, said that a total of 30 recipients received the aid.

“They are mostly residents of the Pepper Estate and Puncak Erskine flat,” he said.

Kebun Bunga assemblyman Jason Ong Khan Lee said similar assistance had been provided at his constituency in the past.

The Penang government had come out with the ‘Penang Gradual Recovery Strategy’. It is divided into three phases – Preparation (May 4 to 7), Familiarisation (May 8 to 12) and Opening (beginning May 13).
