Air Itam rep lends a hand to two primary pupils who lost their father

AFTER losing their father to a heart attack two weeks ago, the welfare of two primary pupils in Air Itam is being looked into, thanks to the assistance and support given by Air Itam assemblyman Joseph Ng.

Siblings Huah Chin Yee, 10, and Wee Sheng, eight, lost their 44-year-old father Huah Chee Siang, who was considered to be the sole breadwinner of the family.

Residing in Desa Mawar, Air Itam, Chin Yee and Wee Sheng then have to depend on their paternal grandfather. However, Huah Leong Beng, 70, suffered a fractured ankle after being involved in an accident on Sept 27.

Due to the unfortunate incidents that befell the family, Ng has stepped in to provide some support to the family.

In a brief press conference outside the Jet Kinderland in Air Itam today, Ng said both siblings can now attend Jet Kinderland’s daycare centre after their school hours.

“At least, they can spend their time here until around 6pm. I am delighted that the Jet Kinderland management had agreed to let Chin Yee and Wee Sheng come here after their school hours.

“This daycare centre can provide a shelter for them after their school hours as their grandfather needs to juggle his work as an odd-job worker,” he said.

Ng said financial assistance has also poured in for the family after their father’s demise.

“In fact, RM12,650 came from the Pertubuhan Kesedaran Komuniti Tanjong Pulau Pinang (PKKT), RM5,000 from the Progressive Language Academy and RM500 from Jet Kinderland’s Love Penang Community Award.

“All these contributions can sustain the family for now,” he said.

Those keen to assist can contact Ng’s service centre at 016-4219143.

Also present during the brief press conference were Leong Beng, Jet Kinderland senior principal Sally Ng and Progressive Language Academy chief executive officer Dr Jeremy Kung.
