THE Amari SPICE Penang is showcasing how creativity and sustainability can come together through its festive Christmas decorations, crafted entirely from upcycled and reused materials in collaboration with community partner Asia Community Service (ACS).
The hotel’s Christmas decorations, unveiled recently, feature handcrafted trees made from repurposed wood, recycled glass bottles, reused fabric, and natural elements.
They showcase how festive celebrations can be both environmentally responsible and creatively inspired, promoting reuse and reducing waste.
Complementing the sustainability effort is the hotel’s ‘Christmas with a Cause’ initiative, which places strong emphasis on community engagement.
As part of the programme, boys from the Salvation Army Penang Children’s Home were invited to join the festive celebration, where they performed Christmas carols and enjoyed a buffet dinner.

The celebration also included a symbolic Christmas tree lighting and a visit from Santa Claus, adding to the festive atmosphere and creating memorable moments for the children.

Below are the details of the upcycled-inspired Christmas decorations sourced from Amari’s press release:-
Christmas Trees at the Grand Lobby and Amaya Food Gallery.
Built from repurposed wood, these unique creations feature ornaments sewn from discarded linens and filled with shredded papier-mâché recycled paper, a thoughtful showcase of second-life and creativity.
Christmas Tree at Cascade.
A glistening installation made entirely from recycled glass bottles, symbolising clarity, renewal, and the beauty of sustainability.
Christmas Tree at Amaya Bar.
An eye-catching structure crafted from Jameson bottles, adding a spirited touch to the festive ambience.
Christmas Tree at Club Tiffin Executive Lounge
A classic tree adorned with natural, organic ornaments; cinnamon sticks, dehydrated citrus slices, pinecones, star anise, and cloves, infusing the air with a warm and comforting aroma of the holidays.
Apart from that, a special part of the ‘Christmas with a Cause’ initiative is the Wishing Tree, where each tag carries a heartfelt wish from residents of the Asia Community Service Centre.
Guests are invited to select a wish tag, fulfil the gift request, and drop off their contribution at the Concierge. This simple gesture creates a meaningful ripple of kindness, bringing comfort and joy to those in need during the holiday season.
