STUDENTS at SMK Datuk Haji Mohamed Nor Ahmad in Gelugor have something to cheer following the establishment of an art workshop in the school.

The workshop, costing RM67,000, was built on Oct 9 and completed on Dec 4 last year. Located on the upper floor of the school, it showcases unique batik clothes.

Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh said the workshop, which was named after him, took about eight weeks to complete.

Ramkarpal emphasises the importance of art workshop to the students.

“Personally, I feel students could be exposed to learn more about the art subject with the setting up of this workshop.

“Art is one of the important subjects in the school’s curriculum as it is included in the SPM examination.

“That’s why I would consider that this workshop will help to inculcate students’ passion for art.

“Besides, I will try to help out the school in any way should there be a need,” he told reporters after visiting the workshop on Saturday.

Apart from that, the school also received RM19,900 allocation specifically meant for school items, such as trampolin, smart LED and installation of public address (PA) system from Ramkarpal.
