Avid runners brave the drizzle for fun run

THE drizzle that began in the wee hours of the morning did not deter some thousands of enthusiastic runners from turning up for the monthly Garmin Fun Run organised by the Penang Forward Sports Club.

The free-for-all monthly event has been carried out since five years ago.

Penang Forward Sports Club chairman Lim Choo Hooi said he was overwhelmed by the huge turnout despite the rain.

“We have received about 2,000 registrations, and about 60% of them turned up this morning despite the rain. Some of them came from Nibong Tebal, other parts of Seberang Perai, and even Kulim.

Chow greeted by those present during Garmin Fun Run.

“We will continue with our effort to organise such an event every month,” he said after the Garmin Fun Run at Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah today.

Lim thanked Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, state Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee and other guests for being present at the event.

Earlier, Chow expressed his gratitude to Penang Forward Sports Club for continuing its commitment to organising the monthly running event.

Chow waves to the runners upon leaving the event.

“I can see that many participants attended this event on a rainy Sunday morning.

“It is important for us to practise a healthy lifestyle,” he said, hoping that such an event can be continued in the future.

Penang Forward Sports Club advisor Datuk Tom Khoo also pledged to continue his noble effort to sponsor more prizes for the lucky draw.

Other attendees included Penang State Sports Council director Harry Chai and Boon Siew Group (BSG) Property sales manager Teh Kok Eng.
