INSPIRED by the success of his first book, entitled ‘Over Penang’, photojournalist David S.T. Loh has recently produced yet another book, called ‘Simply Penang’.

‘Simply Penang’ offers an enchanting tapestry of colours, showing the state’s storied historical past and its multi-racial populace with its rich cultural and artistic heritage.

Loh, who has been in the media industry for 30 years, paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow at his office in Komtar today.

He said the 60-page book contains the breathing culture of contemporary Penang, its residents, places of interests, its celebrations or festivals in the state and its flora and fauna.

“It also showcases the hidden gems and the famous food haven in Penang.

“This book is important for Penangites to understand the festivals, cultures and beliefs.

“Each chapter has its narrations and the charm of Penang,” he told Chow during his visit.

During the session, Loh said the book has received tremendous support from the people. He later presented a copy of the book as a souvenir to Chow.

Chow was delighted with Loh’s initiative and hoped that the book would benefit the people.

“It is a great book documenting Penang’s uniqueness,” he said.

Loh also invited Chow to visit his fine art gallery (David ST Loh Images) in Hutton Lane.

‘Over Penang’, which contains spectacular drone shots taken by Loh, had won the Malaysian National Library Book Awards 2020 under the English (Adult) category.

Accompanied Loh during the courtesy call was his wife Rebecca Lee.

“Despite the pandemic, we felt that we need to interact with our clients and be productive. ‘Simply Penang’ is the result of this movement control order (MCO) rest period’.

“We are grateful that there are companies which helped fund the production of the book through their advertisements,” Lee said.

The public can also purchase the hot sellers, ‘Simply Penang’, and ‘Over Penang’, at reputable retail outlets.
