Be bold to take up challenges, youths told

YOUTHS have been advised to change their mindset and be daring to take up challenges.

Penang Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee said young men and women must be bold and committed when pursuing a dream or career.

“Never be afraid of failure and never give up,” Soon said in his speech at the National Youth Consultative Council meeting at M Sogo Coworking Space in Prangin Mall today.

He told them to grab the opportunity if they were asked to become a Penang Island City Council (MBPP) or Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP) councillor or to give a public speech.

“There is always a first time. I was not confident too when I first became an assemblyman. I gave speeches by reading from the text when I started but later I grew more confident.

“We cannot expect 100 percent performance from a first-timer. If you don’t seize the opportunity, you will miss it.

“But when you have the courage and commitment to do something, success will follow,” said Soon, who was delayed for the meeting as he went to the ground to help flood victims at his constituency in Bagan Jermal.

Also present at the meeting were Penang chief police officer Datuk T. Narenasagaran, Youth and Sports Ministry Penang director Zul Fadhli Abd Aziz and Penang Youth Council chairman Lim Swee Bok.
