DUBBED as the biggest flea market in Seberang Perai, Perda City Flea Market in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam is now officially open to the public.

The Perda City Flea Market is a project under the Mosaic Management and Event Sdn Bhd.

Mosaic Management and Event managing director Jeff Wong Poh Chen said there are more than 150 stalls selling a variety of local foods and various items like clothes, handmade products, gadgets, accessories for women and many more.

Wong said there are more than 150 stalls selling a variety of local foods and various items like clothes, handmade products, gadgets, accessories for women and many more.

“The flea market is open from 10am to midnight every day.

“We choose Bandar Perda in Bukit Mertajam as the flea market location because it is strategically located in the urban area and close to other facilities and amenities, making it the perfect place for leisure time with family members.

“There are also a series of live busking performances every day, funfair, ‘Game House’ and ‘Open Cinema’ (outdoor cinema) to add more excitement for our visitors.

“And we hope the Perda City Flea Market, which is the biggest on the mainland, will become a hit among the locals here and also tourists,” Wong said in his speech before Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow officiated the opening ceremony of the flea market today.

Also present were Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) councillors Fahmi Zainol, Ooi Yong Wooi and Ong Jing Cheng.

Chow commended Mosaic Management and Event for organising such a flea market in Seberang Perai.

“On behalf of the Penang government, I appreciate the initiative by the company to develop this three-acre area into a flea market.

“This can become a new attraction for tourists from the mainland and island, as well as those living in Lunas, Kedah which is very near to Bukit Mertajam.

“And this, in turn, will bring economic benefits for petty traders and hawkers doing their businesses in the market.

“I am sure that this market also will become a new place for the public to spend their leisure time with their family members and friends,” he said.
