BUKIT Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh announced today that 100 water tanks will be strategically placed in areas affected by the impending water cuts in the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary constituency, including Seri Delima and Paya Terubong, scheduled from Jan 10 to 14.

Of these, 60 tanks will serve Paya Terubong, 35 for Seri Delima, and the remaining five will be reserved for emergency use in case unforeseen locations face water disruptions.

Expressing concern, Ramkarpal urged the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) to ensure swift and efficient completion of repair and maintenance works to avoid prolonged disruptions.

“The PBAPP must assume responsibility for the repair and maintenance works, ensuring the timely restoration of the water supply within the specified timeframe.

“Extended delays in water supply restoration could result in substantial losses for businesses, schools, and other essential services across the state.

“We stand ready to collaborate with the authorities, aiming to navigate through this phase of water disruption collectively,” Ramkarpal said during the press conference at the Taman Tun Sardon Village Community Management Council (MPKK) hall in Gelugor today.

Seri Delima assemblyman Connie Tan Hooi Peng extended gratitude to Ramkarpal for promptly organising water tanks in affected Seri Delima areas.

Tan highlighted plans for an additional 38 black jumbo tanks (each with a 2,000-litre capacity) and 20 white jumbo tanks, distributed across 46 locations in Seri Delima. All seven MPKKs under Tan’s jurisdiction will contribute to the initiative.

Tan urged residents to stay updated on the water cuts via her Facebook page, stressing the collective effort to address the challenges posed by the disruption.
