CARETAKER Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow expressed satisfaction with the positive reception received during the walkabouts conducted by the ‘Unity’ candidates in Penang.

Today, he engaged with the public during a walkabout at the Bayan Baru Market.

“The response has been good so far, and the team in Perai also received overwhelming feedback during its visit to Chai Leng Park Market after the opening of the Perai service centre,” Chow shared during an appreciation lunch at Olive Tree Hotel hosted by the CS Tuition Centre.

Former property developer and businessman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu is the Pakatan Harapan candidate contesting in Perai.

Despite the encouraging response, Chow remained cautious and urged the candidates not to be overconfident, emphasising the importance of focusing on productive campaigning as the election day approaches on Aug 12.

Addressing the lower attendance at the Pakatan Harapan ceramah at Penang Chinese Town Hall last night (July 29), Chow explained that the shift to online platforms, such as Facebook Live, may have influenced the turnout.

“As the night progresses, some attendees may leave, which is a normal occurrence in such gatherings.

“Nevertheless, our physical and virtual campaign efforts aim to deliver the party’s message effectively,” Chow said.

He added that the Pakatan Harapan candidates would continue to embark on walkabouts in the days ahead.
