State Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said the state acknowledged the contributions of the Eurasian community.

Earlier, Jagdeep who is also the non-Islamic places of worship fund (RIBI) chairman, said he received applications from three churches in Penang.

“The St John Britto Church in Jalan Sungai Pinang requires funding for repairs of the premises, St Francis Xavier Church in Penang Road needs the fund to replace the roofs and the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows in Macalister Road needs the fund to build a ramp for those people with special needs.

“We will process these applications accordingly. If they meet the required criteria, we shall approve it,” Jagdeep said.
