CM Chow: Funding for Opposition reps remains the same

THE state government will retain the funding for Opposition representatives, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow (PH-Padang Kota).

Chow said this in response to an oral question posed by Mohd Yusni Mat Piah (PN-Penaga) during the State Legislative Assembly today.

Yusni suggested a raise in the allocation for the Opposition-elected representatives.

“We will retain the allocation that we have been giving to the Opposition-elected representatives (RM60,000), until further study is conducted,” he said.

According to Chow, the state-elected representatives will receive an allocation of RM500,000 annually. From the sum, a total of RM200,000 will be the special allocation, RM120,000 for community development projects, and RM180,000 will be designated for special programmes and training.
