THE Penang government is dedicated to realising the Penang2030 vision, which encompasses vital infrastructure projects poised to uplift the lives of Penangites.

This vision focuses on the enhancement of livability, economic prosperity, civic engagement, and balanced development, striving toward the realisation of ‘A Family-Focused Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation’.

Penang2030 vision is categorised into four themes; Theme A focuses on increasing liveability to enhance the quality of life; Theme B aims to upgrade the economy to raise household incomes; Theme C emphasises empowering people to strengthen civic participation and Theme D prioritises investment in the built environment to improve resilience.

The vision was rolled out by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, after just three months of becoming the Penang Chief Minister in 2018.

According to Chow, it is almost seven years since the vision was launched in 2018.

“It was a long journey and to make it into a reality is not going to be easy.

“Nevertheless, we are committed to realising everything planned in the Penang2030 vision.

“To date, a total of 280 projects aligned with the strategic initiatives of the Penang2030 vision have reached completion, culminating in an impressive overall progress rate of 68%.

“We do not want the Penang2030 vision to just be a slogan. We are confident that we can achieve at least 90% of the Penang2030 strategic initiatives by the end of this term,” Chow said in his speech during the closing ceremony of the Penang2030 workshop at G Hotel today.

The two-day workshop focusing on the Penang2030 vision, concluding today, presents an opportunity for participants to engage inclusively and contribute meaningfully toward the advancement of Penang.

Chow, alongside his team of state executive councillors, champion officers, state assemblymen, and heads of departments representing various state government agencies, actively engaged in presentations.

These presentations provided detailed insights into their respective portfolios and highlighted the progress made so far to achieve the Penang2030 vision.

Chow added that, to realise the Penang2030 vision, a top-down approach is needed.

“I cannot do it alone, so every state government department including local councils needs to work together to carry out and implement all the initiatives under the vision.

“I also urge all state elected representatives to actively contribute to the realisation of the Penang2030 vision. This entails spearheading beneficial projects for their constituents and engaging frequently with the community to communicate and elucidate the goals of Penang2030,” he said.

Among those present during the workshop were Penang State Secretary Datuk Rosli Isa, Deputy Chief Minister I Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid, Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo and state executive councillors Rashidi Zinol, Zairil Khir Johari, Wong Hon Wai, Lim Siew Khim, Jason H’ng Mooi Lye, Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu and Fahmi Zainol.
