Concentrate on innovation and technology, students urged

THE two-day Robomania Symposium which started today at Tech Dome in Komtar promises an exciting time for about 700 students from 10 schools in the state.

 

They will get to learn more about subjects ranging from understanding machine learning applications, molecular diagnostics & targeted therapy, humanoid robotics in modern society, IoT- the connected world, geometry robot, drones and tomorrow’s airspace to smart initiatives in transportation & urban planning.

 

Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee, who launched the symposium at Tech Dome this morning, encouraged the students present to ‘start learning today and change the world tomorrow’ in his speech.

 

“Innovation and technology must not stop. They are the main focus to be on par with that of highly advanced countries.

 

“This is also in line with our Penang2030 vision –  a plan towards a family-focused, green and smart state,” Lee stressed.

 

The speakers include UKM’s Dr Azizi Abdullah, UPM’s Prof Dr Cheah Yoke Kqueen, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s John Tay, Shandong’s University of Science and Technology’s Dr Shi Kan, Drone National Taskforce’s Muhammad Syafiq Salleh, Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research’s Hizal Hanis Hashim and UBTECH Robotics China’s Paul Wu.

 

Also at the press conference was Tech Dome’s chief executive officer Dr Khong Yoon Leong.

 

Khong said the students present were very lucky to have access to all the latest technology gadgets and be informative of advancements.

 

“During the symposium, they will also be able to enjoy the sharing session of former NASA’s administrator Charles Bolden.”
