THE Penang Island City Council (MBPP) is still in the process of appointing a consultant to prepare the draft of the Penang Island Local Plan.
State Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye said the MBPP would make an announcement soon regarding the next action, which is the publicity session.
“The publicity session will begin after the MBPP has appointed a qualified consultant,” he replied to a journalist today.
Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo said that after the session is completed, the draft would be presented to the state for its consideration.
It was reported that local plans are statutory plans that contain policies and strategic planning of the state Structure Plan with a more detailed land use map for the local planning authorities.
