Crime prevention awareness programme for Perai residents

THE Perai police force has taken the initiative to engage with the local communities through the crime prevention awareness programme today.

The half-day programme was jointly organised by the Ixora Hotel and Grand Orient Hotel.

Perai police station chief (OCS) Inspector Surestaran Kawander Pillai said the main objective of the programme was to increase crime prevention awareness among the Perai residents.

“During the programme, we share with them about the crime index in Perai, current scams, type of scams, modus operandi of different scams and how to not be a scam victim, snatch theft and many other things as well during the session.

Surestaran said the main objective of the programme was to increase crime prevention awareness among the Perai residents.

“We also explained to them about the latest standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the National Recovery Plan (NRP) so that there won’t be any confusion among the public.

“After all, local community is the eyes and ears of the police.

“Thus, it is crucial to have a programme like this to educate and improve their awareness of crime prevention and also to have greater public co-operation in preventing crime,” Surestaran told reporters after the programme at Ixora Hotel in Prai today.

Also present were Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) councillor Jason Raj, Ixora Hotel general manager John MacNeill and Grand Orient Hotel general manager James Chang.
