THE Cultural Night Run at Second Penang Bridge 2026 is set to attract 5,000 participants on Aug 8.
State Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi said the fifth edition will feature three categories, namely 21km half marathon, 10km and 5km fun run.
“The strong response shows healthy living is increasingly accepted and practised by the community,” he said at a press conference in Komtar today.
The run, organised by the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and Koperasi LLM Berhad (KLLMB), will take place from 9pm to 1am at the bridge.
“This programme promotes a healthy lifestyle while fostering unity among Penang’s multiracial community,” he said.
Gooi said the event also integrates cultural elements, bringing together participants of all ages and backgrounds.
“It offers a unique experience of running on the Second Penang Bridge at night, while promoting Penang as a sports and tourism destination,” he added.
He said the event is expected to draw both local and international participants, benefiting the state’s tourism sector.
Gooi also thanked sponsors and agencies for their support, urging more parties to come forward as partners.
Registration is open until June 30, with attractive prizes on offer, including best costume prize up for grabs for the participants.
He expressed hope the run would continue to grow into an iconic event that promotes health, unity and Penang internationally.
Among those present were Cultural Night Run 2026 Organising Committee chairman Datuk Idrus Mat Tais, LLM Northern Region director Muhammad Syarizal Zin Azman, Second Penang Bridge Executive Officer head Datuk Faizal Shahbudin, and Penang State Sports Council director Harry Chai.
