Dialight opens new manufacturing facility in Penang

DIALIGHT, the innovative global leader in sustainable LED lighting for industrial applications, officially opened its new manufacturing plant at Perai Industrial Zone today.

 

The new US$2.5 million state-of-the-art plant which occupies 90,000sq ft is a replacement to the previous 40,000 sq ft facility.

 

Dialight Asia Pacific operations managing director and vice-president Malcolm Lee said Dialight Penang manufacturing plant had started its operations since 2012.

 

“With this new facility, it will allow us to service the growing demands for superior LED fixtures around the world more effectively.

 

“We believe that Penang is one of the region’s most successful industrial zones.

 

“It is an advantage to us; enabling us to meet faster production and the delivery time of our cutting-edge range of LED lighting fixtures.

 

“We have over 200 employees working in this new facility. These employees work in various departments such as engineering, production, customer service, training department,” he said in his speech at the opening ceremony.

Also present were Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy and Dialight Penang plant manager Ilamaran Elangkathir.

 

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who graced the ceremony, said the LED technology in the lighting industry was a relatively new phenomenon in the country.

 

“I am confident that Dialight’s expansion signifies not only the company’s ongoing commitment in Penang, but a continuous strength in meeting the growing global demands for innovative LED solutions.

 

“Dialight’s new facility expands the company’s global production capacity and increases its capacity to serve as an efficient distribution hub for the Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and African region,” he said.

 

Chown thanked Dialight for its continuous investments in Penang and wished them success.

 

Dialight is headquartered in the United Kingdom with operations in the United States, Denmark, Germany, Singapore, Australia, Mexico, Brazil and Malaysia.
