IN line with the state government’s Penang2030 vision of ‘A Family-Focused Green and Smart State that Inspires the Nation’, Digital Penang will be conducting a 10-lesson digital clinic workshop beginning this month.

Collaborating with the Pykett Avenue and Northam Road Village Community Management Council (MPKK), the first class is expected to take place on May 9 from 8pm to 9.30pm at the Penang Buddhist Free School in Burma Road, George Town.

Digital Penang strategy and communications senior manager Timothy Choy said the classes would be held every Monday, and is open to all ages.

“The classes will consist of bite-sized lessons organised around key digital themes including internet basics, mobile applications, e-wallet, social media and many more.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has significantly raised the importance of digital transformation in all aspects of human life.

“Although we have transitioned into the endemic phase lately, it is no doubt that the pandemic has forced a rapid shift, and it is more imminent now than ever for us to embrace a digital culture.

“Through this digital clinic workshop, participants will have the opportunity to acquire new and basic technology skills.

“This is also vital to assist the state in its efforts to bridge the digital divide,” Timothy said in his speech during the press conference at Penang Buddhist Free School in Burma Road today.

It was learnt that the classes will be conducted by Digital Penang staff.

Meanwhile, the Pykett Avenue and Northam Road MPKK chairman Chee Chong Chew said interested volunteers who want to assist in the classes are more than welcome to do so.

“Volunteers who wish to assist can contact Digital Penang at 011-56203509,” Chee said.

Meanwhile, for those interested to participate in the workshop, they can register by contacting the Penang Buddhist Free School headmaster Eric Yip at 012-4842189.
