FABULOUS fashion from international brands and trending fashion from award-winning designers will be showcased during the Penang Fashion Week (PFW) 2019 at the Gurney Paragon Mall from May 3 to 5.
PFW 2019 will highlight brands like Tumi, Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Charles & Keith, Pedro and Chow Tai Fook.
According to Hunza Properties Group executive director Khor Tze Ming, the success of the past Penang Fashion Week has allowed locals to make a significant presence in the global fashion industry.
“This event affords us the opportunity to present the beautiful creations of the designers to the global audience,” she said at the press conference.
Khor said PFW would help draw tourists to the state, adding that it was time for Penang to be recognised as a fashion destination as well.
State Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, who was also present, told a press conference that the PFW 2019 was a collaboration between Gurney Paragon Mall and 12 Asean fashion designers.
“It provides an opportunity for the synergy of creative and innovations between the local and international designers,” Yeoh said.
“Fashion industry in Penang has a vital part to play besides our (Penang) mouth-watering street food, diverse culture and beautiful heritage architectures.
“Penang might be a small state, but we do have a large number of innovative and creative talents where we have to nurture these young talents.”
During the three-day fashion feast, all 12 Asean designers’ collections will be displayed at the pop-up store in the mall where fashion lovers can visit and expect a unique shopping experience.
Some of the participating local designers of the PFW include Bon Zainal, Samantha Chua, Keith Kee, Michael Ooi and Annabelle (11 years old girl). They will be offering diverse designs that speak of their unique creativity.
Apart from that, Gurney Paragon Mall will be rolling out some interesting activities. Shoppers who spend a minimum of RM200 in the mall in a single receipt from May 1 to 12, can redeem a PFW 2019 tote bag. There are also have few contests for shoppers to stand a chance to win prizes.
