Early Deepavali cheer for the needy

PENANG Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Commitee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo shares early Deepavali joy with senior citizens and needy children in Datuk Keramat, by presenting them with 770 bags of food products.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has hampered the coming Deepavali celebration.

“Usually, we hold open houses to share joy with the people.

“We would donate to the needy during the open house.

“Unfortunately, we are unable to host the open house this year due to the pandemic,” he said at the Ramakrishna Ashrama in Scotland Road today.

Jagdeep said despite not being able to host the open house, he would continue to donate to the needy folk.

“We are giving food products to the needy; among those are Eden Handicap Service Centre, Penang Cheshire Home, Penang Home for the Infirm and Aged, Persatuan Syukur Penyayang Pulau Pinang, Wisma Yatim, Sekolah Kanak-kanak Terencat Akal and Ramakrishna Ashrama,” he said.
