Early Deepavali joy for 100 families

AS many as 100 needy Indian families received their early Deepavali hamper goodies at a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme organised for the second consecutive year by the Malaysian Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry. (MICCI).

The hampers and goodie bags, according to MICCI president Datuk N. Gobalakrishnan, worth around RM12,000 and contain various assortment of cooking essential items.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow attended the event as the Guest of Honour and commended the efforts by MICCI in bringing joy to the needy families for the forthcoming festival.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate the president, his management council members and member traders for their generosity in contributing to make this event a great success,” Chow said.

“I was made to understand by Datuk Gobalakrishnan that Think City has arranged for further meetings to see what can be done to improve Little India,” he added.

Also present was Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy.
