RUNNERS participating in the upcoming Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) on Dec 11 this year can now look forward to enjoying tour packages curated between the PBIM organiser and the Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA).

MCTA Penang chapter chairman Edwin Tan said that the collaboration would be an opportunity for the runners who are joining the PBIM.

“We expect an influx of outstation tourists during the event which has been halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“On the day of the event, we will provide transport for the runners from their hotels to the event venue. This will help to reduce traffic congestion.

“The packages will include the accommodation for the runners on selected days and nights.

“We are in a partnership with six hotels in Penang,” he told reporters without revealing the participating hotels in Komtar today.

State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin praised the efforts of the participating partners.

“I believe this is an opportunity to welcome everyone to experience Penang.

“This gives the people a chance to enjoy themselves in Penang while participating in the PBIM,” Yeoh said.

He said the PBIM organiser has received 19,000 registrations as of today.

Yeoh speaking to reporters after the event in Komtar.
