RELAX and enjoy the process and fun of making art pottery.

It’s a simple yet fun-filled activity that can help one to de-stress. Making art pottery is not something tough but it tests one’s patience, perseverance and ability to come out with an ‘out of the box’ idea and artwork.

When making art pottery, one can’t be too rushed to complete it. What is important is to take pleasure in it as one lets the creative juices flow.

The fresh air and tranquility enveloping the Clay.Pu Heaven atop a Sungai Ara hill makes the centre a befitting place to express one’s art skills. It is accessible by driving for about 10 to 15 minutes via a narrow dirt road surrounded by greenery, off Jalan Kenari.

On top of that, there are orchards in the vicinity and the place becomes a hive of activity during the durian season. The area is also popular with many hikers and cyclists using the dirt track during the weekends for their exercises while to those who like to mediate, there are also ideal spots.

Clay.Pu Heaven is operated by a Kong family of four.

Previously engaged in the jewellery business, the fourth generation of the Kong family then ventured into the art pottery industry.

State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin recently visited the centre and was shown the process of how to make artwork using clay.

In an interactive and fun session conducted by one of the family members, Kong Yi Jing patiently showed Yeoh as well as Buletin Mutiara team, who was also present, the various methods and ways to make the artwork.

“This place is a good place for you to relax and unwind yourself from the hectic life.

“You can try to make various handcrafts from the clay here.

“Just take a deep breath and enjoy the process while you are here,” she said.

Guided by Yi Jing and her family members, Yeoh tried his hand at the art pottery and found it not only educational but also a thrilling experience.

Yeoh encouraged the locals to come and try it out for themselves.

“It is something unique,” he said after visiting the centre.

It is open to visitors by appointment only with strict adherence to the necessary standard operating procedures (SOPs).
