MALAYSIA’S total lockdown is the right strategy taken by the Government, Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PCCC) vice-president Datuk Finn Choong said.

Choong said the Government has to strike a balance between life and livelihood.

“This lockdown can give us the opportunity to increase vaccination rates.

“It is important for us to speed up vaccination to reduce the number of new Covid-19 cases,” he said.

Choong stresses the importance of speeding up vaccination.

SJKC Mak Mandin’s board chairman Eow Seik Fong also urged the Government to accelerate vaccination.

“We can flatten the infection curve if everyone works together,” he said.

Eow urges everyone to work together.

Meanwhile, most Penangites, who are not in the essential services sectors, are complying with the SOPs and are working from home.

The police have tightened control at roadblocks in Penang.

Stringent checks are being conducted at police roadblocks.

Undergraduate Lisa Ho, 23, said she is in the midst of completing her internship at a company.

“My internship is supposed to end middle of June. I’m now completing my internship from home.

“I haven’t been to the campus since the first MCO started in March last year.

“Zoom classes had been method of learning since then,” she said.

Marketing executive Annie Ong, 36, said she would also be working from home.

“I’ll be working from home, just like the first MCO. But I’ll be very busy as we have at least four Zoom meetings a day.

“It’s easy to work from home because we are given access to our company’s server where our documents are kept.

“It’s good to work from home because we do not need to beat stressful traffic jams,” she added.
