THE joy of the Festival of Lights was felt in Air Putih when hundreds of people irrespective of race and faith turned up at the Deepavali Open House on Oct 24 which was made even merrier by the presence of Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and his wife Betty Chew.
Stressing that the joy of Deepavali transcends all races, Lim said the same goes for the present state government which cares for the people irrespective of race, religious beliefs and even political inclination.
The chief minister, who is Air Putih assemblymember, also noted that more infrastructural improvement would take place next year in his constituency to ease traffic congestion.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy, Sungai Pinang assemblymember Lim Siew Khim and Penang Island City Council (MBPP) councillors Syerleena Abdul Rashid, Chris Lee and Joseph Ng as well as the event organising chairman P.R. Kaliyappan who also chairs the Taman Sempadan Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK).
