Firm apologises for delay in Android app download for smart parking project

THE company that was awarded the Penang Smart Parking (PSP) project has apologised following a delay in the Android app download.

HeiTech Padu Berhad executive vice-president Abdul Halim Md Lassim said the company took the matter very seriously.

“We understand that this is a serious matter. We have taken drastic steps to ensure that the ‘download approval’ is settled by this week.

“We will provide a free credit of RM5 for the first 10,000 Android app users (when the app is available).

“A free credit of RM5 for the first 10,000 downloads are currently enjoyed by iOS users.

“We will continue to work closely with the state government to ensure that the implementation of the smart parking system progress smoothly,” Abdul Halim said told a press conference in Komtar today.

Also present were Penang Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo, Penang Island City Council mayor Datuk Yew Tung Seang, Seberang Perai Municipal Council president Datuk Rozali Mohamud and HeiTech Padu Berhad project director Safarudin Ban.

Yew said the Penang Island City Council had issued a warning letter to HeiTech Padu Berhad and was waiting for an explanation letter from the company before taking any further action.

“It is not only about the delay. The company must deliver what they have promised, and that includes several other features in the app,” Yew said.

Rozali commented that HeiTech Padu Berhad should treat this matter as a lesson to perform better.

Meanwhile, Jagdeep hoped that the matter can be solved soonest possible.

“We hope that the company will work diligently to ensure that the project takes off as planned.

“The project will help propel Penang to be a smart state,” he said.
