TENANTS at the Padang Tembak Flats in George Town were all smiles on a Monday morning as they received their bit of share of food baskets, courtesy of the Penang Housing Board.

State Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo, during the brief handover ceremony, distributed the supplies to 10 eligible recipients first.

Overall, 140 recipients from E and J blocks would be given the food baskets.

“Thank you to the staff at Penang Housing Board for their good work in distributing these supplies thus far.

“As mentioned previously, this initiative is aimed at distributing 1,000 food baskets to eligible recipients from various low-cost flats and rental units in Penang,” Jagdeep said during the brief handover ceremony at the Padang Tembak Village Community Management Council (MPKK) hall today.

Regarded as one of the earliest low-costs flats to be built in Penang, Padang Tembak Flats is a 52-year-old project that consists of nine blocks with 3,539 units.

Out of that total, 522 units from E and J blocks are rental units.

Kebun Bunga assemblyman Jason Ong Khan Lee, who was present during the handover ceremony, thanked Jagdeep and team for taking the initiative to distribute food baskets for tenants at the flats during this period of uncertainties.

Also present during the ceremony was Penang Housing Board general manager Ainul Fadhilah Samsudi.
