PIONEER companies in the exhibition industry, Instant Exposition Services Sdn Bhd and Instant Trading, have donated RM10,000 worth of food vouchers to help the needy families in Padang Kota.

Instant Exposition Services Sdn Bhd director B. Geetha said the companies wanted to contribute back to the society and the state.

“This is our corporate social responsibility project,” she said after presenting a mock cheque to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow at his office in Komtar today.

Also present were Chow’s special affairs officer Lau Keng Ee and Instant Trading sole proprietor David Lim.

Chow thanked the companies for the contribution of food vouchers.

“The needy families, who will be receiving between RM50 and RM100 worth of food vouchers, can buy the necessary food items from the Gama Supermarket and Departmental Store.

“We are blessed that many non-governmental organisations (NGOs), corporations, the private sector, associations, and professional bodies have collaborated with the Penang government to reach out to those impacted by the pandemic.

“The various sectors have come forward to offer their assistance throughout the pandemic period,” he said.

Chow said the state had, recently, launched the PgCare Alliance.

“The PgCare Alliance is the fruit of the collaboration between the state and the NGOs. The alliance mainly focuses on four key areas – mental health, food, job, and financial aid.

“Social and economic impacts caused by the Covid-19 pandemic have affected the people, resulting in many facing psychological and mental health problems.

“The PgCare Alliance has organisations that are able to provide counselling services to the needy.

“The alliance also has organisations which are assisting in food provisions. The Penang government has been providing the service for many years now via its food bank.

“In addition, the PgCare Alliance is aiding job seekers by matching them with the available job opportunity,” he said.

Chow added that PgCare Alliance was also aiding those in need of financial assistance based on merit.

“The alliance has just been established and the alliance committee will be providing more information.

“This is something that we (Penangites) are proud of. The people come forward to play their respective roles.

“This is a difficult time, and many people are suffering. We hope that we can touch the lives of those in need through this platform.

“Let us support and encourage one another during this critical period,” Chow said.
