Former Thai PM makes maiden visit to Penang

THE former Prime Minister of Thailand General Chavalit Yongchaiyudh has expressed his interest to learn more about the technical courses offered by the Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC).

Yongchaiyudh said this was his first trip to Penang and he planned to visit PSDC.

“We want to learn more about the Electrical and Electronics industry,” he said during his courtesy call on Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow in Komtar today.

Pensonic representative Datuk Tahir Jalaluddin Hussain told Chow about a research collaboration between a Malaysian company and a Thai-based company to combat HIV and cancer.

Chow said that it is high time to focus on empowering the entire region than just the country.

“We need to ‘energise’ the Asian countries,” he said.

Joining them were Thai consul-general in Penang Raschada Jiwalai, General Dr Bundith Piriyasaisunti, Prolac (Thailand) Co. Ltd. chief executive officer Dr Aswin Wattanapramote, Halagel representative Datuk Seri Ahmad Rodzi and Mangmee Thai Food Products Co. Ltd. chief executive officer Senong Vechkij.
