VISITORS and locals can expect about three weeks of excitement beginning this Merdeka Day on Aug 31.

 

The Penang Harmony Celebration is set to be held from Aug 31 to Sept 21. Various programmes and activities have been lined up to foster unity among the community.

 

State Social Development, Welfare and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Lim Siew Khim, who is also the Penang Harmony Corporation chairman, announced the Penang Harmony Celebration and highly anticipated Streets of Harmony Bukit Mertajam Tour.

 

“The Streets of Harmony Bukit Mertajam Tour will be held on Sept 10 and 17. Those who are taking part in the tour will be able to check out nine places of worship which include the Masjid Jamek Sungai Rambai, Xuan Tian Temple, Wat Chanthararam Thai Buddhist Temple, Shri Maha Mangalanayagi Amman Devasthanam Temple and the Minor Basilica of St Anne.

 

“The launching of the Penang Harmony Celebration and highly anticipated Streets of Harmony Bukit Mertajam Tour will be held at 8pm on Aug 31 at Jit Sin Independent High School in Bukit Mertajam,” she told a media conference recently.

Lim said she was pleased to see how much HARMONICO has grown.

 

“Let us continue to uplift our community, especially the younger generation. I hope the rakyat will take this opportunity to join the Penang Harmony Celebration.

 

“I urge every Penangite to come together to build a harmonious Penang for our future generation,” Lim added.
