Four-day BCAP event celebrates art and creativity

ART enthusiasts in Penang now have the opportunity to witness the stunning pieces of artwork on display at the Asia Pacific’s largest integrated event at St Giles The Wembley Hotel, George Town, from today (Nov 9) until Sunday (Nov 12).

Initiated and supported by the Penang government and the state Tourism and Creative Economy (PETACE) office, this four-day Beyond Contemporary Art Penang – International Art Summit & Expo 2023 (BCAP) event is a unique global economic initiative that integrates business, art, tourism, and education.

The event features over 500 art pieces from 17 countries, comprising four programs: Art Summit, Art Expo, Art Auction, and Art Award Gala Dinner.

State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai, who graced the event, highlighted its potential to attract art lovers to the exhibition.

He expressed his appreciation, saying: “I am delighted that Penang has, once again, taken the lead in this unique cross-industries move in promoting tourism, art, business, and education.”

He also praised BCAP founding president Datuk Ch’ng Huck Theng and the BCAP team.

“Their dedication and hard work are the driving forces behind the success of this mega-event. The display of artworks from various countries will enrich the artistic landscape of Penang.

“BCAP is more than just an event as it is an invitation to explore, appreciate, and be inspired by the transformative power of art and creativity,” Wong said in his speech at St Giles The Wembley Hotel, today.

Ch’ng expressed his gratitude for the state’s effort to ensure the event’s success.

“Art is important in our daily lives, as we take pride in dedicating a curated space for emerging local artists,” he said.

Among those present at the event were notable figures, including Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) national vice-president Datuk Khoo Boo Lim, MAH Penang chapter chairman Datuk Tony Goh, Affin Bank Berhad Wealth Management head Calvin Goon, Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Penang Branch chairman Datuk Seri Lee Tiong Li, and Tourism Malaysia Northern Region deputy director Siti Hajar Mohd Yunus.

Visiting hours for the exhibition are as follows – noon to 6pm (today); 10.30am to 8.30pm (tomorrow); 9.30am to 8.30pm (Saturday); and 9.30am to 3pm (Sunday).
