“The bridge closure near the entrance of Pangsapuri Perindu is crucial to ease the process of construction works of the new bridge including upgrading of the monsoon drain near the bridge to mitigate flood woes in the area.

The monsoon drain near the bridge will also be upgraded.

“The cost for the new bridge, which is 13-metre long and nine-meter wide, is RM454,000 while the cost of the monsoon drain upgrading works is RM150,000,” said Soon, who is also the state Youth and Sports Committee chairman, during his visit today.

According to Soon, road users are encouraged to use Jalan Raja Uda as an alternative route or Lorong Cantek 8 and Tingkat Cantek 5 to reach Jalan Permatang Pauh.

“We will start distributing the closure notice to the local community here by today,” he added.

Also present during the visit was Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) councillor Ng Yee Siang.
