Since its inception in 2001, French films have already garnered strong reputation among the people.

For this year’s 18th edition of the festival, Penang Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the film festival was an exciting window of opportunity for viewers to discover more about the French culture and society through the different activities.

When talked about the significance of the festival, Yeoh said it offered an insight into the French culture through their diverse films of various genres.

“This is especially in Penang where we are host to various festivals throughout the year, including our “Penang Celebrates” series of events started by my office to highlight its rich multiculturalism scene and practices.

“We look forward to fostering closer relations and welcoming more festivities in near future to make Penang a vibrant cultural hub for all,” he said in his speech after attending the French Film Festival 2019 at GSC Gurney Plaza last night.
