Fresh coat of paint for Taman Free School flats

THIRTEEN blocks of Taman Free School flats under the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) are set to undergo repainting work in stages.

Penang Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo announced the approval of the repainting work during a visit to the site this morning.

“We completed the repainting work for more than 10 blocks of Taman Free School flats under the Penang Housing Board a few years ago.

“And now, we are focussing on the other blocks under the MBPP,” he said, adding that the repainting work would start at Block C and D. The work is scheduled to begin in May.

Specifying Taman Free School flats (under the MBPP and the Penang Housing Board), Jagdeep said about RM18.5 million has been spent on 613 works such as piping, roof repair, waterproofing, paving roads, repairing cracks, electrical maintenance, and repainting.

“We have also assisted in upgrading the lifts of Block L, M, and N of Taman Free School.

“We will continue to monitor the projects under the local councils (both on the island and the mainland) and the Penang Housing Board,” he added.

Also present were MBPP secretary Datuk A. Rajendran, MBPP councillor R. Kaliyappan, and Penang Housing Board chief business officer Fakhurrazi Ibnu Omar.
