PENANG Tech Centre Berhad and Wesley Methodist School Penang (International) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on May 7 to collaborate in the area of promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM).

The tie-up is to help promote STEAM to students and teachers through student tours to local and overseas destinations, STEAM workshops for students, teachers training on the delivery of STEAM content and development of experiments, community outreach via STEAM activities, or any other appropriate activities.

“This programme is held mainly to inculcate the interest of learning science and technology related subjects in conjunction with government’s effort to increase the number of students enrolling in these subjects,” Tech Dome Penang chief executive officer Dr Khong Yoon Leong said when he officiated the MoU signing ceremony held at Tech Dome Penang.

Also present were Methodist School Penang director Jenny Qua and its registrar Victor Tan.

Khong added that the programme was also an excellent opportunity for students to acquire and develop new STEAM knowledge and skills as well as to learn more about themselves, their community and country.

“In addition, it offers the opportunity for students to practise the English language, learn interpersonal skills, gain confidence to prepare for their future and to enhance their appreciation of diversity and foreign culture,” he stressed.
