1st Avenue Mall Penang will be organising the third annual “I Love George Town Run 2018” with a good cause on Aug 19.
Komtar assemblymember Teh Lai Heng, who is also the political secretary to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, said the fun run is also part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) practised by 1st Avenue.
“This year, 1st Avenue will be supporting Peace & Harmony Home and the Cerebral (Spastic) Children’s Association of Penang,” Teh told reporters at 1st Avenue today.
1st Avenue general manager Jensen Lim, who was also present, confirmed that the mall would contribute RM10,000 each to the two organisations they are supporting.
Others present were representatives of sponsors like Kappa, Emico, SEGi College Penang, Greenxagon, Signtech Design, Hotel Jen Penang, Red Box Karaoke, DZI Kingdom, Royal Sporting House, the Chicken Rice Shop, Kenny Rogers Roasters, Skywave and online registration partner Cloudhax Sdn Bhd.
So far, the organisers have received over 2,000 entries. The entry fee is RM50. Participants who complete the 8km route will each receive a goodie bag, medal and finisher’s e-certificate.
The run will take the participants through some parts of the George Town heritage iconic site. It will start from Lebuh Lintang, before proceeding to Jalan Magazine, Jalan Penang, Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong, Lebuh Pantai, Jalan Lebuh Light, Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling, Lebuh Farquhar, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, Jalan Larut, Jalan Anson, Jalan Macalister, Jalan Penang, Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong, Jalan Ria, Lebuh Tek Soon, Jalan Magazine and ends at 1st Avenue Mall.
The run will be flagged off at 6.30am. Lucky prizes worth RM20,000 will be held after the run.
