IT was a memorable day for Greatech Technology Bhd as the company was given its due recognition for being a key agent of green initiatives, especially in operating their business.

The company was recognised for installing solar panels at its Batu Kawan plant and obtaining the Penang Green Office Award, the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) Aqua Save programme and the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.

State Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu was invited to participate in a simple celebration hosted by the company at its premises in Batu Kawan earlier today.

Sundarajoo, during his speech, applauded Greatech for being a vital part of the state’s drive to promote a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.

“Greatech’s journey towards sustainability began in March 2023 with the ambitious solar installation project at the Batu Kawan plant.

“This project, completed in mid-August 2023, is a shining example of Greatech’s dedication to harnessing cleaner and greener energy sources.

“Greatech’s commitment to environmental sustainability and workplace green practices has not gone unnoticed.

“The Penang Green Office certification and the PBAPP Aqua Save sustainable water management certification recognise Greatech’s remarkable strides in adopting sustainable practices to reduce its environmental impact.

“Today, we also applaud Greatech’s attainment of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.

“These international standards represent a commitment to excellence in environmental management and occupational health and safety,” Sundarajoo said in his speech.

Also present earlier were Penang Green Council (PGC) general manager Josephine Tan and Greatech chief operating officer Khor Lean Heng.
