THE state government through the Penang Green Council (PGC) will once again organise the Penang Green Finance Conference this year.

The Penang Green Finance Conference will be held on Dec 13 and 14 at G Hotel in George Town. The conference was held virtually last year.

PGC general manager Josephine Tan Mei Ling said the conference is open to all business owners, project developers, financial planners and advisors, project managers and policymakers.

Tan said the conference is open to all business owners, project developers, financial planners and advisors, project managers and policymakers.

“This year’s conference is aimed at facilitating the in-flow of green investments and capital into the state.

“Green finance is important because it facilitates and supports sustainable development and financial flow into the environmental sector.

“It also plays a key role in activating and scaling up green transformation on the ground.

“This will also be Penang’s very first physical green finance conference bringing together speakers from Bank Negara Malaysia, Security Commissions Malaysia, Capital Markets Malaysia, Maybank, CIMB Bank, UOB Malaysia, Funding Societies, Ata Plus Sdn Bhd and many more.

“There will also be a series of product presentations, panel discussions, matchmaking and networking session where participants could explore and deep dive into various green financing instruments available,” Tan said in a press statement today.

According to Tan, participants who join the conference would gain valuable knowledge.

“This includes increasing their understanding of green finance and investment, especially at the company and subnational levels; forming a network of experts and financiers that can help in the green transformation of Penang and its economy; and contributing to the direction and actionable solutions for Penang to develop an effective green finance regime,” she added.
