Half a century strong: Investment, Trade and Education in focus

THE Penang government and the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Penang will work together to plan activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Malaysia diplomatic relations next year.

 

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said this after a fruitful official meeting with China vice-president Han Zheng at Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort in Batu Ferringhi this evening.

“This was one of the many issues highlighted during the one-hour discussion.

 

“We remain committed to strengthening our bilateral relationship with China.

 

“Both parties, Penang and China are looking forward to the celebration.

 

“We have had a close bilateral relationship for the past 50 years, and can be regarded as strategic partners,” Chow said.

 

Chow added that investments, the US-China trade war, education, and talent development were among other topics discussed during the meeting.
