PENANG is set to host the first-ever high-end audio-visual exhibition, called ‘Northern AV Show 2022’, in Ascott Gurney Penang over the weekend.

The show, which has been held in Kuala Lumpur over the years, will now take place at Gurney Drive with the support of the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB).

Yeoh

State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the expo would be in line with the state’s vision to develop the technology hub.

“We foresee a great interest in HiFi dealers and retailers located in Kuala Lumpur to expand their business network in Penang.

“Penang has grown a lot and we can see the state is recovering after the pandemic.

“We are willing to support and provide any assistance to enhance all businesses.

“I wish to bring in more conferences, workshops, and seminars which can lead to the creation of new job opportunities,” he said at a press conference in Komtar today.

The debut expo will feature 21 unique exhibits that cover various aspects of audio and vision. These include home theatre systems, portable music equipment and headphones.

Yeoh said the state was looking forward to organising a huge event next year.

Teoh

Gryphon Production director Wilson Teoh thanked the state for its support of the event.

“This will be a great opportunity for local Penangites to get to know about the latest trends and products in the audio-visual industry.

“There are many buyers in Penang and this will help generate income for the state as well,” he said.

Teoh said there would be performances by local artists as well at certain hours during the two-day event.

“We want to support the local artists,” he added.

Ashwin

PCEB chief executive officer Ashwin Gunasekeran was glad that Penang was chosen as the place to hold the event.

“We are looking forward to bringing in more events or exhibitions into the state,” he said.

The two-day expo will be held from 10am to 8pm. Admission is free.
