Honoured for dedication, contribution towards peace in society

TWO community leaders – Penang Hindu Endowment Board executive director Datuk M. Ramachandran and Malaysia Hindudharma Mamandram Penang advisor Dr R. Gunasegaran – have been presented the Ambassador of Peace Award by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF).

 

According to a media release, the award presentation was held at The Light Hotel in Seberang Jaya, Penang, on March 20.

 

Ramachandran and Dr Gunasegaran received their awards from UPF Malaysia National president B. Sudesh and UPF national liaison director Lai Peng Keong during the Malaysia Leadership Seminar.

 

Some 60 participants, comprising Government officials, professionals, and non-governmental organisation (NGO) leaders were present at the event. Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan was the guest of honour.

The Malaysia Leadership Seminar, themed ‘Providing Vision and Leadership of Peace’, included several presentations on how to apply peace principles to achieve sustainable development. A fundraising event for the Peace Children Care Centre in Penang was also held during the seminar.

 

In his closing remarks, Kumaresan urged all the Ambassadors of Peace and delegates to work closely with the Government to foster unity and harmony for a better Malaysia.
